DECENT project

Decentralized Cross-commodity Energy Management

@ virtual GI conference 2020

Two articles have been published at the 50th annuarly conference from GI (German Society for Information Technologies) and presented during the “5th GI/ACM I4.0 Standardization Workshop on Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS)” by TUM and Framatome. This year’s conference took place virtually. For more information, please have a look at “Informatik 2020”-Website.

The two papers are included in the proceedings. We would apprechiate your download, comments below and citations, especially on the following titles:
Feature-based Comparison of Open Source OPC-UA Implementations, by Nikolas Mühlbauer et al.
Gossip protocol approach for a decentralized energy market with OPC UA client-server communication, by Josef Schindler et al.

In the first paper, the most commonly used libraries of OPC UA have been tested against each other in several small OPC UA Client/Server communication scenarios.

The latter presented gossip algorithms for the use in decentralized, energy markets. A “basic” and an OPC UA implementation have been compared for the communication between the several entities.

Josef Schindler is PhD student at Covalion (powered by Framatome). He received his MSc degree in 2018 in power engineering from the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany. His fields of interest are controlling of battery storages and efficient energy management systems in overall. Before joining Covalion in 2018, he has been working at modeling/simulation of hybrid storage and efficient controlling with Matlab.
