In this part, Marc-Oliver Pahl (IMT Atlantique, TU München) presents the various dissemination activities of project, the exploitation strategies of the industry partners, and a roadmap on how DECENT technology could be adopted in the upcoming 20 years. Finally, he closes the meeting taking another resumée on the past two and a half years.
The DECENT idea is to interconnect several neighbourhood buildings at one marketplace to share resources. We presented the results of the corresponding market simulations during this last technical presentation.
DECENT is a complex system that is made up of multiple components. To build a secure market for commodity trading, there are plenty of pitfalls that can happen. To avoid these pitfalls, this talk gives an overview of the general DECENT architecture and aspects that need to be considered when designing a similar system.
In the DECENT project, we elaborated two market clearing algorithms. The merit-order algorithm, as the commonly used best-practice standard, powers the DECENT virtual demonstrator. Fortiss, represented by Dr Markus Duchon, shows the blockchain implementation of that market during this session. Besides, Josef Schindler presented gossip algorithm markets as an alternative approach.
In this session, Strategy Director Jan Segerstam (Enerim Oy) talks about how connecting the value opportunities of the wholesale electricity markets and local markets sharing local values will ensure better overall value for flexible heat and electricity resources.
In this presentation Jussi Kiljander (VTT) presented the overall approach, called Energy Management Agent and elaborated the results with practical example on a selected case study. During the project, several IoT communication protocols have been researched, namely OPC UA, MQTT & CoAP. Erkin Kirdan states the findings regarding security, interoperability from the specifications and several open-source libraries. Besides, Josef Schindler embeds OPC UA into a use case and presents a demo.
Initially, user stories were developed extended to use cases during the project to define the core functionalites of the DECENT system. The overview and relevance to the workplan is presented by Markus Duchon (fortiss, Germany).
