DECENT project

Decentralized Cross-commodity Energy Management

Summer School: IoT meets AI

From September 2nd to 5th, TUM was one of the main organizers for a summer school with a focus on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The event took place in Munich with more than 35 participants from over 14 countries. Aside from many different interesting talks about IoT and AI, both from academic and industrial viewpoints, the participants were assigned to one of four different challenges.
There TUM organized a challenge where participants had to create and mash up different micro services using an IoT middleware in order to build a complex IoT workflow, from integrating sensors over implementing the orchestration logic to visualizing the outcome.

Details on the program and video recordings can be found on https://school.future-iot.org

Both IoT and AI are highly relevant topics for DECENT, as the sensor measurements required for decision making usually come from IoT deployments, while AI plays an important role in forecasting (cross) commodity usage in smart neighborhoods.

Stefan Liebald is a scientific staff member, lecturer and PhD student in the S2O team at the Chair of Network Architectures and Services at Technical University of Munich (TUM). He received his Master's degree in informatics from TUM in February 2016. His main areas of interest are computer networks, the Internet of Things with a focus on data management, and teaching.
