DECENT participated at German’s biggest energy fair “E-world – energy & water” in Essen from February 11th to 13th 2020. Two of our PhD students showed secure communication demonstrators in collaboration with university of Siegen.

In their scenario, university of Siegen showed a substation (i.e. any critical infrastructure), which was secured by a generic, attribute-based access control (ABAC) firewall.

The second demonstrator consisted of one of the DECENT smart-neighborhood assets. The herein used battery-boosted charging station can internally place bids on the DECENT flexibility market and externally be influenced by placing charging reservations. The relevant protocol for secure external communication for that use-case was OPC UA.
